Layfield is looking to add an experienced Extrusion Machine Operator to our Manufacturing team at our Edmonton facility. As a key member of the Manufacturing team, this position is responsible for the set-up, operation, and control of the equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, possess a collaborative team mindset, exhibit strong mechanical aptitude, and a constant drive for continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities: Ensure materials are available prior to the start of production. Ensure mixing equipment is ready with the appropriate recipe. Set up machine parameters in accordance with the job to be produced. Operate/monitor controls to regulate Temperature, Speed, Pressure and other operating conditions to match the product SOC (Standard Operating Conditions). Perform adjustments to ensure Product Quality Specifications are met. Resolve minor equipment malfunctions and quality issues. Complete start up and shutdown Extrusion/Lamination checklists. Responsible for the complete and accurate recording of production during the shift, this includes Shop Clock, RiteScan, Bartender and Unipoint. Maintain inventory of materials during the Production Shift. Maintain a well-organized and clean work area that meets 5S requirements. Complete Preventive Maintenance tasks as per UpKeep requirements. Complete all other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor. Required Skills & Knowledge Experience operating manufacturing equipment. Mechanically inclined. Driven, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to work night and day shift on a rotating basis. Education & Experience 2+ years of College Education as a Technologist/Technician. 3-years minimum of manufacturing experience. What does Layfield have to offer?
