- **Polykar**_ in Edmonton is hiring for an **Assistant Extrusion Operator**
Reporting to the Plant Manager and the shift supervisor), the Assistant Extrusion Operator is responsible for the assistance in operation of the extrusion production line and for providing film of quality in accordance with order docket specifications and with the health safety required by the garbage bag and film converter industries. The Assistant Extrusion Operator is also responsible for the general cleanliness of the extrusion production work area.
**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Assist in Operating the lines according to the pre-established working methods and guidelines.
- Write production and quality control reports.
- Ensure the quality of the finished product while maintaining safety in the workplace.
- Ensure the cleanliness of workplaces.
- Participate in repairs and preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.
- Suggest ideas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Follow the requirements and compliance with ISO standards.
- Follow safe work procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
- Forklift experience an asset.
- No specific work experience required, however, previous manufacturing experience an asset.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions is essential.
- Excellent work ethic and an excellent attitude with the ability to learn quickly.
- Good understanding of English (verbal, writing and reading).
- Show dexterity and adopt problem-solving skills.
- Mechanically inclined and good manual skills.
- Be versatile, take initiative and be resourceful.
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear).
- Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 30 lbs, without assistance.
- Ability to work shiftwork (12 hours, days / nights / weekends).
- Knowledge of BRC and ISO standards (an asset).
- **Must have reliable transportation as there is no bus route to this location.**
Hours of Work:
Hourly Wage: $20.00 per hour plus shift premiums, eligible for Benefits after three (3) months of employment. After six months of active employment will receive $1.00 increase.
**Salary**: From $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 12 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
