Mobile Building Operator

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an ambitious, hardworking and innovative candidate to fill a Mobile Building Operator opening for work on sites in HRM and throughout Nova Scotia. This individual would be responsible for ensuring the functionality of the building, infrastructure, equipment, and fixtures that are necessary to the successful operation of the business. They will work in a team environment that oversees the safe, secure and environmentally sound operations and maintenance of these assets in a cost-effective manner. As the ideal candidate you: Are focused on a long term career Are prepared to invest, with the proper training, the time necessary to take your career to the next level Enjoy connecting with people on the phone, email or face-to-face Are organized and are able to identify improvements Have the ability to work in a self-directed way within a team environment Have the discipline to meet deadlines and keep on schedule Understand the importance of demonstrating value, having fun and being invited back For the ideal candidate, we offer: Immediate / ongoing training Insightful mentorship / technical support Career growth opportunities Company vehicle Company benefits Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Maintain and update materials and equipment inventories Ability to plan, schedule and control costs for projects that fall within their control Responsible for supervision of skilled workers (Sub-Contractors) in such maintenances as generators, elevators, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical Interface with internal and external customers ensuring effective communications regarding status and priority of work Inspect completed work Walkthrough, inspection and condition reporting of all areas of a facility Responsible for the efficient, effective, and successful control of all equipment maintenance, building structures, and property in accordance with approved practices, procedures, and methods Keeping accurate and up-to-date logs and record readings, maintenance and repair work Perform all types of general building maintenance and repairs Knowledge of and ability to perform work and repairs on:Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system and associated systems (belt and filter replacements);Plumbing systems (Isolate and repair minor leaks, assist plumbers);Electrical systems (bulb replacements, fixture changes, emergency light testing and repair);Generator Systems (basic testing, filter changes);Architectural Systems (drywall and painting, flooring, basic carpentry); andAll other building systems necessary for the operation of the site Perform corrective maintenance of the Technical Systems Perform planned Preventive Maintenance of the Technical Systems (i.e. belts, filters, pumps, etc) Submit monthly performance reports detailing site activity Adherence to and implementation of health, safety, quality control and environmental policies and programs COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Change Orientation (open to change and the ability to identify where it is needed and how to make it happen) Communicates Effectively (verbally and in writing) Continuous Learning (ongoing effort to learn and contribute to the learnings of others) Customer Focus (understand the needs and perspectives of both internal and external customers) Holds Self and Others Accountable (take personal responsibility to meet commitments) Problem Solving and Innovation (ability to approach problems logically and seek innovative solutions) Teamwork and Collaboration (work cooperatively and collaboratively with others) Values and Respects Others (encourages and supports diversity) EDUCATION, SKILL, & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Well-developed people skills and superior customer service Experience required with operations and maintenance of building systems Keen interest and desire to continue to learn and able to take initiative Willingness to work in a team environment Computer literate Effective verbal and written communication skills Proven time management and organizational skills Must obtain Reliability security clearance Must obtain Controlled Goods Access clearance Must complete a criminal background check Must be able to respond to facility emergencies after hours Competitive compensation and benefits packages A family business with family values Long-term stability Collaborative and supportive work culture Ongoing investment in training and development One company with endless opportunities to learn and grow
