Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City's infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc. Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor Wastewater Operations and Maintenance, the Maintenance Operator Class II - WwTF is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and major rebuild on all mechanical equipment related to the treatment, collection and transmission of wastewater and biosolids treatment, handling and air emissions, including new installations 24hrs a day 365 days a year. Specifically, this position machines, welds and fabricates parts for equipment rebuild/repair, and completes detailed logs and records of work in accordance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position acts as a Wastewater Operator, monitoring treatment and collection processes as assigned. Lastly, this position is comprised of various provincially regulated Trades including but not limited to: Industrial Mechanic Millwright, Tool and Die Machinist, and Plumber. Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring that wastewater mechanical equipment is functioning properly and maintained in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements and manufacturers warranties and design standards.
