The U of T Mississauga Library, located in the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (HMALC), is a leading, world-class library committed to providing students with an open and collaborative environment – one that embeds rich information and technology resources, integrates expert services into a dynamic and imaginative experience, and inspires and facilitates learning. The Li Koon Chun Finance Learning Centre (FLC) is a unit of the UTM Library and is located within the Innovation Complex, which houses the Departments of Management and Economics, the graduate programs affiliated with the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) and ICUBE, a campus hub for entrepreneurship. The FLC actively supports the learning, teaching, research, and data needs of the Management, Economics, IMI and entrepreneurship communities, and the broader campus, while functioning as a focal point for students interested in business, finance, economics, and data analysis and visualization. The Finance Learning Centre (FLC) & Liaison Librarian will be embedded within the FLC, together with the FLC Reference & Research Specialist, and supported by part-time FLC Student Assistants. The FLC & Liaison Librarian will supervise the FLC Reference & Research Specialist, and FLC Student Assistants, and will report to the Department Head, User & Learning Services. The OpportunityThe University of Toronto Mississauga Library invites applications from experienced, innovative, and service-oriented librarians for the position of FLC & Liaison Librarian. The successful candidate will provide dynamic, engaging information literacy instruction with a focus on supporting undergraduate Management and Economics programs and the Master of Forensic Accounting, Master of Management and Professional Accounting, and Master of Management of Innovation graduate programs. This work will involve delivering or supporting instruction using specialized finance, accounting, data analysis and visualization and other software, and resources, independently or in partnership with faculty. The successful candidate will also offer instructional support to UTM's entrepreneurship community and provide leadership for the FLC’s successful co-curricular resource workshops and online certifications programming.The successful candidate will provide expert in-depth reference, research consultation and instruction support, and develop and manage UTM library collections within their portfolio. This individual will be responsible for developing close, collaborative, and proactive relationships with faculty, staff, and key student groups within their liaison areas, and with UTM’s Information and Instructional Technology Services department.The successful candidate will plan and implement the FLC’s communications and outreach, in collaboration with other FLC and UTM Library staff and librarians. With strategic guidance from the Department Head, User & Learning Services, the FLC Librarian will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the FLC. As part of this role, they will also oversee all aspects of the FLC Student Assistant program, including recruiting, hiring, training, budgeting, and general management.Required Qualifications Master’s degree in library, archival or information science from an accredited institution.Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, equity, anti-racism and accessibility.Experience working as a librarian supporting business subjects, preferably in an academic library.Demonstrated project management and planning experience, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to deadlines.Experience with supervising staff and/or student employees, directly or indirectly, particularly in a unionized environment.Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.Outstanding service orientation and commitment to supporting patrons and colleagues.Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and ability to innovate and adapt to a changing environment.Demonstrated understanding of the role of technology in library services and resources and the impact on diverse user communities.Expertise in creating inclusive, engaging learning environments that address diverse learning styles and needs.Experience in providing engaging experiential and peer-to-peer learning opportunities for students.Knowledge of Bloomberg, FactSet or other specialized finance and accounting databases and software and a commitment to developing and maintaining expertise with these tools.Relevant collection development experience.Demonstrated ability to manage software licenses and communicate technological requirements with IT staff.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications An undergraduate degree in business and/or relevant professional business or finance certifications (e.g. Canadian Securities Course, CFA Level I).Knowledge of Tableau, Stata, PowerBI, or other specialized data analysis and data visualization software and a commitment to developing and maintaining expertise with these tools.Experience locating and working with datasets, particularly for financial, company, and industry data.Proven comfort with emerging technologies and new methodologies.Experience with social media, web and digital content design and/or development, and library communications and outreach.Knowledge of emerging trends in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications within academic libraries. Salary and Terms of Appointment:  It is anticipated that this position will be filled at the Librarian II level, subject to review and experience. Minimum salary:  LIB II: $84,573 (Salary is dependent on rank at hire and qualifications) The expected salary range is  $84,573 - $91,600, depending on experience.
