Job summaryThe Regional Director – Ottawa is responsible forthe overall leadership, growth, and performance of ABS’s Ottawa office. This role combines business development, operational oversight, team leadership, and client relationship management, with a strong hands-on presence in the local market.As ABS continues to expand its footprint in Ontario, the Regional Director will play a key entrepreneurial role, establishing the firm as a trusted engineering and environmental consulting partner in the National Capital Region and Eastern Ontario. The position requires a leader who understands the Ontario consulting market, can develop a sustainable pipeline of work, and can translate corporate strategy into local execution and results. Responsabilities: Regional Leadership & Office ManagementProvide overall leadership and direction for the Ottawa office, ensuring alignment with ABS’s corporate strategy, values, and performance expectationsOversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, resource planning, utilization, and financial performanceDevelop and manage the regional budget, monitor KPIs, and ensure profitability and sustainable growthEnsure compliance with ABS policies, quality standards, and health and safety requirementsFoster a strong, collaborative, and accountable office culture in a growing team environmentBusiness Development & Market ExpansionLead regional business development activities across ABS’s core service lines (geotechnical, environmental, materials testing, and related engineering services)Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities with public and private sector clients, including municipalities, developers, contractors, and institutional clientsLeverage existing networks and actively build new relationships in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario marketAct as a senior client contact for key strategic accountsCollaborate with other ABS offices and leaders to support cross-regional pursuits and integrated service offeringsTechnical & Project OversightProvide senior-level oversight and strategic input on major projects, proposals, and client engagementsSupport project teams in managing risk related to scope, schedule, budget, and client expectationsContribute directly to projects and technical leadership as required (typically 20–40% of time, depending on background and office maturity)Ensure high standards of technical quality and professional practice consistent with Ontario regulations and industry best practicesTalent & Team DevelopmentRecruit, develop, and retain top technical and project management talent in the regionCoach and mentor project managers and emerging leaders, particularly in client management and business developmentConduct performance management activities and support career development planningPromote a safe, inclusive, and performance-driven workplaceCollaboration & Corporate IntegrationAct as a key link between the Ottawa office and ABS’s broader organizationEncourage collaboration across disciplines, offices, and regionsContribute to corporate initiatives, process improvements, and strategic planning as a member of the leadership groupProfile : Entrepreneurial and accountableClient-focused and commercially astuteStrong commitment to health and safetyCollaborative, inspirational leadership styleComfortable operating in growth and change environmentsAble to balance strategic thinking with hands-on executionQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEUniversity degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related disciplineMinimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within a consulting engineering or environmental services firmDemonstrated experience in business development, client relationship management, and market growthStrong understanding of the Ontario consulting market, particularly in Ottawa and Eastern OntarioExperience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing office or regional operationsProven ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and operational performanceStrong leadership presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEntrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approachFluency in English required bilingualism (English/French) considered a strong assetExisting regional network of contacts considered a significant assetABS Advantages: Flexible schedule;Various shifts available (day, evening, weekend) with eligible incentive;Competitive salary and possibility for overtime;Benefits from day 1 (group insurance | RRSP | virtual medicine, available 24/7 | EAP);Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP);Recognition: any time is a good time to celebrateSeveral committees in place for social activitiesWork in a dynamic, team-oriented environment** Please note that the use of the masculine gender is used without any discrimination and solely for the purpose of simplifying the text **
