In this role, you will be supported by the Senior Consultant, Workplace Resolution. This is an exciting time to join our team. If you are passionate about making a difference in the work you do, then this is the job for you As the Workplace Resolution Consultant, you will support the Respectful Workplace Policy and Guidelines, furthering the Employer's goal of a workplace free of disrespectful conduct and the conflict it creates. You will play a key role in managing reported concerns and provide a high level of service to government employees, managers and HR professionals when addressing workplace issues, primarily related to the Respectful Workplace Policy, through education, investigation, and mediation.

As a subject matter expert on best practices and processes for workplace resolution, you will provide support and guidance regarding resolution process options available to all parties involved in workplace concerns. You will be directly involved in workplace investigations and mediation. This role is key to empowering managers and employees to meet the shared responsibility to create and maintain a respectful workplace culture.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Provides subject matter expertise, analysis and advice to Human Resource professionals, managers, senior officials, and employees with respect to workplace restoration options
  • Provide timely and professional responses to workplace concerns
  • Oversight of the Respectful Workplace Policy
  • Lead and coordinate facilitated discussions and mediations, including overseeing the practice of a roster of internal mediators
  • Review and assess complaints to determine the appropriate resolution approach and communicate available resolution options to those involved
  • Conduct workplace investigations and report writing
  • Conflict coaching and other modes of ongoing support for a respectful workplace culture
  • Support HR professionals, managers and employees on Respectful Workplace principles and processes
  • Track and report on workplace resolution needs and efforts within the public service
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and several years of related work experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of training or experience.

Your thorough understanding of, and direct experience with, workplace conflict resolution principles and best practices will be critical in this role.  As well you must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage in sensitive matters with prudence and discretion.

In this role you must be capable of managing competing priorities and deadlines, maintain a high level of attention to detail, and be able to quickly identify key issues and develop understandable options for resolving conflict.

Familiarity with procedural fairness requirements and alternative dispute resolution processes and expertise in areas of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and workplace violence is required.

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Conceptual Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Outcome Focus, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion
  • Typically located in an office environment, may require travel, particularly when conducting mediation, investigations, or training
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail, concentration, analysis, and active listening skills through lengthy phone calls and meetings, reviewing details and outcomes of sensitive employee matters, reviewing, and preparing reports

Pay Grade:  EC 11 

Salary Range:  $3,351.92 - $4,189.95 Bi-Weekly
