Key Accountabilities: The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position: Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas. Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, will provide measurable improvements and enhancements systems. Strong skills in understanding the principle of operation. Other tasks that may be performed include welding, cutting, rigging and machining as required. Industrial mechanics (millwrights) may prepare bases for equipment. May refer to schematics, engineered drawings and manuals, both hard copy and electronic, to determine work procedures. They may use hand and power tools and access equipment in installation and repair work. Larger machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses and grinders may be used in fabrication of machine parts. Rigging, hoisting/lifting and moving equipment such as cranes, jacks and powered mobile equipment (PME) are commonly used to position large machines or machine parts. Plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles. Will be required to understand and baseline the current state in terms of the effectiveness of work order planning and scheduling and cost (materials, resources, time) implications. Master the basics of the CMMS system utilized at the plant ( SAP-PM) and become knowledgeable with system reporting and work order systems and methods – gaps will be identified and a formal improvement plan developed and put into place. Improve communications between and show an improvement in the effectiveness of work order effectiveness and work order completion rate, reduction in back log, and a set of prioritized work orders with (improved) methods and procedures in place. Optimize and effectively accomplish all work and work orders (from break down to condition based) and lead in the development of rules and controls over the planning and scheduling efforts. Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related down time and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for each plant and shares best practices across and within the enterprise. Daily completion of all documentation including but not limited to; daily log, downtime detail report, completed work orders, completed PMs, inventory issue slips, material requisitions and Maintenance Work Requests (MWRs) Skills/Qualifications: Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes. Ability to read and understand complex diagrams. Capable of MOS leadership skills combined with team player attitude. Key skills are mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, communication, job planning and organizing and the ability to use trade-related calculations. Have the ability to detect malfunctions through sensory tests which are often confirmed by condition-based monitoring. Other important attributes include good coordination, manual dexterity and spatial visualization. Possess overlapping skills with other tradespeople such as steamfitter/pipefitters, industrial instrument mechanics, power engineers, welders, machinists or industrial electricians. May work in specialized areas of the trade such as vibration analysis, thermography, tribology (fluid analysis) and laser/optical alignment. Education and Experience: Interprovincial Journeyman License (Red Seal) 5 years production/line machine maintenance experience Line maintenance within a food and beverage production environment preferred Working Conditions: Physical-Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Visual/Sensory-This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time. Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive. Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands. The work environment is varied and may involve working in extreme or adverse conditions. Required to work shift work. May work in confined spaces, at heights, with heavy equipment and around moving equipment. The work often requires considerable standing, kneeling and lifting of materials.
