**Responsibilities & Duties**

The Press Operator (also known as the Pressman), is the crew chief. It is the Operator’s responsibility to ensure:
(i) That these procedures are understood and followed by all applicable personnel.
(ii) That all equipment is in suitable condition and is appropriately crewed.
(iii) That at all safety checks are performed daily.
(iv) Best possible quality printed/coated sheets are being produced.
(v) Best possible productivity levels are being achieved.
(vi) Proper maintenance and preventative maintenance of the press and its systems.
(vii) Proper logging and storage of printing plates, mylars and coating blankets/plates.
(viii) Completion of all documentation.
(ix) The crew is being trained to upgrade their skills.
(x) That all quality requirements are in compliance.

The Operator’s duty is to set-up and operate the Printing equipment, and instruct the crew as required. The Operator must produce, registered, colour correct, printed/coated sheets, with finished loads properly jogged and identified on appropriate skids. The Operator must complete all documentation associated with each Work Order. The Operator must maintain the Printing equipment in optimal running and safe condition with scheduled lubrication, cleaning tasks, tune-ups, preventative maintenance and logging and documentation of all such activities.
