Responsibilities:

  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living, including (but not limited to) administering medications, bathing and personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, attending medical appoints, etc.
  • Assisting clients' transition to community living where appropriate
  • Practice a person-directed approach to supporting clients
  • Improving client's quality of life by making a positive impact on everyday activities
  • Developing a strong respectful relationship with the clients you are supporting
  • Nurturing a strong rapport with family members, while also building and maintaining relationships with other supports
  • Planning and facilitating leisure, recreational and social activities
  • Maintain detailed and accurate files on each client including daily and quarterly reports
  • Responding appropriately in times of crisis/emergency

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate. Post-secondary education preferred
  • The 7 Provincial Core Competencies outlined by Department of Opportunities and Social Development (DOSD) (can be completed upon hire)
  • Ability to provide a clear, current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be a team player and demonstrate a high degree of initiative, judgement, and a positive can-do attitude
