SUMMER STUDENT POSITION-INTEGRATED SUPPORT SERVICES 1Full-Time Opportunity (35 hours/week) The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) of Ottawa is committed to protecting the children and youth of our community from abuse and neglect. Our Integrated Support Services Team is currently hiring one (1) Summer Student for the summer months to provide routine supportive duties to designated supervisors/workers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Supervisorof Integrated Support Services, the ISS CYC Student will be providing the following responsibilities: ·Assists the assigned workers with scheduling meetings and visits, case documentation, maintaining appropriate documentation on client contacts ·Organizing and assisting in activities/programs for the various Youth Initiatives and programming ·Attends appointment with clients ·Support in supervising parenting-time visits ·Transports children, as required and reporting back to the assigned case workers on significant information REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES: Current student enrolled in or recently graduated from a Child & Youth Worker Diploma, Social Services Diploma or B.A. in a related field Experience working with children and families is highly desired. Experience in residential settings is highly desired. Sound knowledge of our mandate and the services that we provide. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to work effectively with diverse communities and FNIM populations. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, staff and community professionals. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond to competing demands. Good judgment, good decision-making skills, excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a team setting. Demonstrated strong ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing. Proven ability in using office software, i.e. MS Word, MS Excel Valid Driver’s License and access or ownership to a vehicle is required. Ownership of a cellular phone Satisfactory Police Record Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector is required upon hire.+ Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset; all languages are an asset. HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. + flexibility to work variable hours when required We offer a competitive salary rate of $19.24 per hour plus an additional 6% in lieu of insurable benefits and 5% of vacation pay.
