We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Operations Officer III to join our Securities Lending & Settlement team. This role is a critical part of our Wealth Operations division, accountable for the clearing and settlement of transactions for institutional and retail brokerage clients. You will be responsible for the daily monitoring and settlement of trades in various markets, including borrowing, lending, and collateral management. This is a 1-year contract with a strong possibility for extension or permanent conversion based on performance.Work Location: Toronto, ON.Work Structure: Hybrid. The first 90 days are 5 days per week onsite. Following the initial 90 days, the schedule shifts to 4 days per week onsite.Schedule: Monday to Friday, core business hours (37.5 hours per week).As an Operations Officer III, you will operate in a fast-paced environment supporting the Securities Lending team’s clearing and settlement activities. Your primary focus is to ensure that all loans, borrows, and repays are settled within CDS and DTC environments accurately and by end-of-day deadlines. This role involves significant technical processing as well as proactive communication with traders and margin groups to resolve discrepancies. It is a premier opportunity for a finance professional to deepen their expertise in a specialized and high-impact area of the bank.AdvantagesCareer Growth: High potential for contract extension or conversion to a full-time permanent position.Industry Exposure: Gain deep, specialized experience in Securities Lending within a leading global financial organization.Collaborative Culture: Join a 12-member team that values positivity, innovation, and mutual support.Networking: Significant opportunity for networking across the Wealth and Securities divisions.Central Location: Conveniently located at Bloor and Bay in the heart of Toronto’s business district.ResponsibilitiesSpecific AccountabilitiesTrade Settlement: Execute settlements in CDS and DTC for various loans, borrows, repays, and collateral tickets, ensuring all transactions are finalized by end-of-day.Discrepancy Resolution: Monitor and report all settlement discrepancies promptly to Lending Traders and Margin groups; lead investigations to ensure issues are resolved before they impact the business.Trader Support: Provide real-time operational support to Traders, including position checks, position movements, and answering inquiries related to lending activity.Financial Oversight: Manage Mark to Market, Contract Compare, Fees and Rebate, Reconciliations, and Recall functions.Audit & Compliance: Maintain and file documentation pertaining to daily settlements accurately to serve as a required audit function.Stakeholder Management: Interact with internal partners (approximately 50% of the time) to ensure business objectives and Service Level Goals are met.General AccountabilitiesOperational Excellence: Ensure necessary procedures, due diligence, and quality controls are followed to support the accuracy of all transactions.Continuous Improvement: Suggest and participate in process improvements and technology adoptions to increase team efficiency.Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily huddles, work committees, and team meetings to foster a respectful and supportive workplace environment.Professional Development: Take ownership of personal development through ongoing education and cross-training within the team.QualificationsMandatory Requirements Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience within the banking or financial institution industry.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Analytical Skills: Demonstrated experience in Reconciliation and identifying/resolving financial discrepancies.Education: A University Degree is mandatory.Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.Organization: Highly developed time management skills with the ability to manage strict deadlines and high volumes of work.Preferred Qualifications Completion of CSC (Canadian Securities Course).Progress toward or completion of CFA or CGA/CPA certifications.Direct experience in the Settlement and Trading industry.Familiarity with CDS and DTC settlement platforms.Candidate RequirementsAbility to work 5 days onsite for the first 90 days.Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.Stable employment history (candidates with multiple short-term contracts without explanation may be excluded).SummaryIf you are interested in the Operations Officer position please apply online todayRandstad Canada is committed to fostering a workforce reflective of all peoples of Canada.
