Senior Supervisor, YWCA Child Care at Cindy Beedie Place

The YWCA Cindy Beedie Place offers women and children new, safe and affordable homes. In addition, a dynamic 37-space child care catering to 12 toddlers and 25 preschool age children. Women will be able to access affordable, on-site child care while they pursue educational and employment programs. YWCA goal is to help build a safe community and connect families with wrap-around support including educational bursaries, legal advocacy and employment opportunities. What you’ll be doing Strong leadership skills that align with the YWCA vision, values and mission Have effectively led a team with demonstrated professionalism and best practices for children and Educators that aligns with child care regulations, program philosophy and the Early Learning Framework Maintain a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for all through active listening, open dialogue, keeping families informed and effective resolution skills Have effectively created environments that ensures the safety and healthy development of children and staff Have lived experience providing supervision and guidance to staffs, substitutes, practicum students and volunteers. Responsible for carrying out the purposes and objectives of the YWCA in the direct management of YWCA Child Care at Cindy Beedie Place Administration of the Centre, including ensuring that the program is in compliance with all policies, procedures and standards, as set out by the licensing and governing agencies, manage scheduling, budgets, and administrative tasks Providing child care to infants/toddlers and preschool age children, as part of a team, meeting licensing ratio requirements Participate with other YWCA Child Care Supervisors in developing best practices, strategies and policies that support that YWCA child care philosophy. Work in close partnership with YWCA Cindy Beedie Place Property Housing Team Other duties as required What you’ll need: The successful candidate will have ECE Post Basic-IT/SN Certificate Current First Aid and Food safe certification A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required. Three (3) to Five (5) years supervisory experience in a licensed child care facility Experience building a positive team environment Demonstrated experience in developing cohesive, creative play-based programs and supportive learning environments. First-hand knowledge and real live experience incorporating the Early Learning Framework and pedagogical practices that also engages families and community. Ability to promote inclusive practices that respect diversity and individual needs Proven ability to cultivate a positive team culture and enhance staff cohesion through strategic communication. Strong problem‑solving and teamwork abilities are essential, along with composure and compassion under pressure. Relationship building in working with families, community partners, health practitioners, social workers, is vitally important Attention to detail is important, especially as it relates to ensuring that the centre operates in accordance with licensing and YWCA policies and procedures.
