YWCA Metro Vancouver is seeking an experienced and inspiring leader to join our team as Director of the Health and Fitness Centre. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic growth, financial sustainability, and daily operations of our flagship facility, including its gymnasium, pool, and studios. The Health + Fitness Centre has been providing fitness, lifestyle and social services from its current impressive facility since 1995. Occupying three floors of the Hornby Street location. As Director, you will drive innovation in sales, marketing, and community engagement to expand membership, strengthen brand awareness, and diversify revenue streams. You’ll also ensure all programs and services reflect YWCA’s mission: advancing equity and well‑being for women, families, and allies. This is more than a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of members and the broader community. What you’ll be doing: Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Health and Fitness Centre, ensuring excellence in all aspects of service delivery. Lead sales and marketing initiatives that grow membership, increase retention, and raise the Centre’s profile in the community. Oversee financial management, including budgets, forecasts, and identifying opportunities for revenue diversification to support both the Centre and YWCA programs. Provide leadership and inspire a diverse team of fitness professionals, sales staff, and volunteers, fostering a high-performance, participant-centred culture. Build meaningful community programs and partnerships, and represent the YWCA as an advocate for gender equity, inclusion, and social justice in the wellness sector. Champion accessibility, diversity, and equity within the Centre’s programs, staff practices, and member experiences. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and regulatory standards, including developing risk management mitigation strategies. Other duties as required. What you’ll bring: Senior leadership experience in fitness, wellness, or recreation. Proven success in sales and marketing strategies for membership growth, brand awareness, and revenue diversification. Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, and revenue development. Track record of building, leading, and motivating high-performing teams. Experience overseeing facility operations and capital projects. A strong commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion—and the ability to put these values into action. Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., business, recreation, physical education, or non-profit management) or equivalent professional experience. Current professional fitness certifications and valid first aid certification are an asset. A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
