The YWCA Cindy Beedie Place offers women and children new, safe and affordable homes. In addition, a dynamic 37-space child care catering to 12 toddlers and 25 preschool age children. Women will be able to access affordable, on-site child care while they pursue educational and employment programs. YWCA goal is to help build a safe community and connect families with wrap-around support including educational bursaries, legal advocacy and employment opportunities. What you’ll be doing Values diverse perspectives, is committed to reflective practice with children, and is eager to grow as both a learner and educator Engaged in exploring the BC Early Learning Framework Child-centered care, including nurturing, responsive, and culturally sensitive care Responsive program planning, implementation, and evaluation Promotes an inclusive environment Maintain a clean and safe environment: launder bibs and cloths, sanitize toys and equipment, and set up the physical space for daily activities Follow each child’s individual daily schedule with consistency and care Track, monitor and document each child’s day, including: Daily routines, locations, and needs Food and liquid intake Health, emotional well-being, and developmental progress Writing daily updates, developmental observations, and progress notes for team members and families Strong communication and relationship-building with children, team members, and parents/guardian Other duties as required What you’ll need: The successful candidate will have an ECE basic/Post Basic IT/SN certificate A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required. Valid Food Safe certification (Level 1) First Aid Certificate Current experience working in licensed Group Infant Toddler centre required for the IT program Two (2) to Three (3) experience working in a group child care 16 months to school age Knowledge and practical experience with current educational practices and theories Familiarity with co-constructed curriculum design and documentation processes Working knowledge of the Early learning Framework The successful applicant will be a team player, interested in maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment. Flexibility to work varied/extended hours as required by the centres would be an asset.
