What is the Opportunity?As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.Reporting to the Technical Director, this role will support work within the DNNP project, and will be responsible for planning, design, and execution of the temporary work structures. What You'll Do Here: Work closely with the field team to understand their needs and prepare concept design for all required temporary structures Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics Create and finalize shop fabrication drawings including custom fabrication and design Material take off and generation of bill of materials Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepancies Support all projects through the fabrication process or temporary steel structures Design/plan and supervise of all structural steel work required for working platform, brackets, access scaffolding, base plates, anchorage, tie off point, working at height elements, tie backs, guying and bracing all structures during construction Provides status and progress reports to the client, project team, and management Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc. Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality All other duties as assigned What You Bring to the Team: Post secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng) is considered an asset 5-10 years’ experience in structural design and detailing, with a preference of experience in temporary structures Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written) Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team Organizational and time management skills.
