Beginning in 2023, Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization scope for the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.Reporting to the Technical Director, this role will support work within the DNNP project, and will be responsible for planning, design, and execution of the temporary work structures.What You'll Do Here:Work closely with field teams to understand their needs and prepare concept, design for all required temporary structuresCollaborate with external engineers and internal teams to create detailed technical drawings and schematicsCreate and finalize shop fabrication drawings including custom fabrication and designMaterial take-off and generation of bill of materialsConduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepanciesSupport all projects through the fabrication process of temporary steel structuresDesign, plan, and supervise all structural steel required for: - Working platform – Brackets, - Access scaffolding – Base plates – Anchorage – Tie-off point – Working at height elements – Tie backs – Guying and bracing all structures during constructionProvide status and progress reports to customers, project team, and managementInterface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA programs and project quality standardsAll other duties as assignedWhat You Bring to the Table:Post-secondary education in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer designation (P.Eng) is considered an assetMinimum 10 years experience in structural design and detailing, with a preference for experience in temporary structuresExcellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skillsStrong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large teamOrganizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
