We design cool tech for use underwater that allows tons of people and organizations to pursue their audacious dreams of exploring and learning about our oceans and waterways. We have a small and vibrant design team in Victoria, BC with a collaborative spirit that is both humble and bold. We work together to navigate all design steps from the whiteboard to fully tested, volume-manufactured products. We recently kicked off some long term development projects including high resolution camera modules, sonar systems and high-bandwidth communications products. We are looking for a camera development engineer –  a senior electronics designer with a bunch of advanced electronics experience and broad knowledge of adjacent fields. If you: Have an innate desire to create new things with electronics, programmable logic and firmware Noodle intently over circuit designs and PCB layouts Approach problems intuitively from both a high altitude and great depth - sometimes simultaneously Yearn to leverage and expand your technical chops and knowledge Willingly wrestle complex systems and designs until they behave and function well Enjoy collaboration and nurturing junior designers Resonate with the spirit of open-source software development then you will likely be a great fit Will it all be whipped cream and roses? Probably not. But as a team we’ll chip away at this awesome, fun and sometimes infuriating dream that we’ve decided deserves to become a reality. Qualifications: An Engineering degree in a related field (EE, Eng Phys, Mechatronics, Software, etc.) Solid foundation in electronic and microelectronic theory Designed and debugged a large number of sophisticated PCBs High speed design experience including ethernet, MIPI, DDR4, etc Specific hardware and software experience developing linux-based camera systems a plus Know your way around linux, V4L, gstreamer, not afraid of kernel module development Willingness to dive through multi-thousand page datasheets & manuals Deep, insatiable impulse to understand, and leverage that understanding to create new things Innate desire to collaborate, learn, and adapt Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 CAD annually; depending on qualifications Benefits: Paid holidays Four weeks base accrued vacation per year, expandable to eight weeks Educational reimbursement, $1,000.00 per year Relocation reimbursement How to Apply: Please complete our short application and submit your materials.
