Job Description: People & Culture is where people, systems, and values come together — and we’re looking for a Coordinator, People & Culture to help keep it all running smoothly. This role offers broad exposure to HR operations, recruitment and onboarding, HR systems, and organizational initiatives in a unionized public-sector environment. You’ll work across multiple HR functions, with the opportunity to build strong systems, improve processes, and see the impact of your work across the organization. What you’ll do Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for unionized and exempt positions Prepare job postings, support interview processes, conduct reference checks, and prepare offer letters Coordinate orientation, training, and professional development activities Serve as the subject matter expert for the HRIS, maintaining accurate data and preparing reports Support benefits administration, employee records, and People & Culture intranet content Contribute to continuous improvement across People & Culture programs and processes What you bring Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field Minimum three (3) years of relevant administrative or coordination experience (unionized environment preferred) Experience coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes Experience working with an HRIS or HR database Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment Why VIRL VIRL is a values-driven public organization serving communities across Vancouver Island.
