The Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program is one of fourteen in the province of Ontario. As the Patient Services Clerk you will be is responsible for reception, communication and clerical duties of the unit in accordance with the organizational philosophy, policies and standards of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. The Patient Services Clerk works with an interdisciplinary health care team to complete all clerical duties. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Accurately processes all doctors’ orders using order entry through Meditech • Accurately completes Lab and Imaging requisitions • Accurately uses the Electronic Medical Record to collect information relevant to clinic visits • Orders and stocks supplies • Assists with extra clerical duties as assigned by Team Leader/Resource Nurse • Willingly floats and functions throughout the department • Accurately schedules, registers and books patient appointments • Electronic/scanning filing of medical records As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements: • Medical Office Administration Certificate/Diploma or Equivalent Program essential • Evidence of on-going education in office administration or secretarial courses required • Office administration experience in a hospital environment or equivalent • Computer literacy - Microsoft Office – essential, Keyboarding skills – 50wpm – essential • Current experience with Meditech, including registration, EMR, order entry and appointment scheduling an asset • Medical terminology certificate required • Current experience in the processing of physicians orders an asset • Oncology experience highly recommended • Experience with booking of appointments required • Previous hospital experience an asset • Previous MD office experience as asset • Experience with OHIP billings an asset • Successful completion of Meditech Admissions program an asset • Experience with database management and Microsoft Access an asset • Meditech Community Wide Scheduling knowledge an asset • Knowledge of catchments area, medical services and the cancer care system essential You are ideal for this position if you have: • Demonstrated commitment to customer service skills • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using both oral and written format with patients, families, public, colleagues and other members of the interprofessional team • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function effectively in a busy environment • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and organizational skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team • Demonstrated ability to function in a multi-task environment • Demonstrates commitment to maintaining confidentiality • Demonstration of commitment to ongoing learning Equity & Inclusion RVH is committed to recruitment and selection practices anchored in principles of equity and inclusion that contribute to an anti-oppressive, respectful, and culturally safe workplace.
