About the Office of the Registrar: The contributes to Toronto Metropolitan University’s bold vision by providing the bedrock of innovative systems and structures required to build a world-leading institution. Every member of the university community is an RO client. The RO is involved in the entire academic experience of the student body from admission through to graduation, providing reliable support through a wide range of services and safeguarding the integrity of the university’s policies and student records. We provide expert guidance to academic leaders regarding student recruitment, admissions, student financial services, student fees, new programming initiatives, transfer credit, course offerings, grading processes, scheduling, academic policy and curriculum management. The Opportunity As the Curriculum Advising Officer, you will utilize the edited course calendar manuscript to interpret, build and maintain all approved undergraduate academic curricular requirement rules in the Student Administration System (SAS). By using the information entered within SAS, you will determine the graduation eligibility of all undergraduate and continuing education students and communicate specific graduation requirements to students and faculty. You will support and participate in Convocation. You will maintain optimal functioning of the Academic Advisement (AA) component in SAS and its integration with other registrarial-related self-service functions through ongoing systems testing and review.QualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Successful completion of a four-year post-secondary degree program or equivalent experience of 4 years of specialized training with Student Information Systems from an educational administration and client service perspective within a post-secondary educational setting. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience within a post-secondary environment in academic counselling and/or advising is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using SAS – inputting and extracting data/information to support student self-service functions, e.g. Academic Advisement Report required.Training and experience with Oracle PeopleSoft in an educational setting (Campus Solutions) is required. Demonstrated knowledge of TMU's academic policies, procedures, and curriculum is essential to review and determine student eligibility to graduate. This includes providing detailed information to current students and potential readmits and reinstates regarding program and plan options, program requirements, policies, and procedures.Excellent oral and written communication skills, and commitment to client service.Strong organizational, research and analytical skills in a high-stress, fast-paced, multi-deadline type of environment.Problem-solving skills: to foresee, troubleshoot and resolve problems and/or issues concerning curriculum, policy development, students, and public university and staff relations.Excellent attention to detail is required to maintain the accuracy of assessment and confirmation of student graduation statuses, the content of convocation programs, graduation award documents, and statistical reports, as well as to interpret and apply policy to uphold the integrity of University program outcomes.Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.
