What can I expect to do in this role?

Work Description

As a Data Analyst Assistant, you may have the opportunity to work on some or all of the following activities:
  • Perform data entry of information, and make corrections, as required.
  • Conduct data validation and assessment to determine readiness and ensure it meets the pre-determined criteria.
  • Liaise with IT staff to update data on the Boards case management system.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage daily assigned work.

How do I qualify?
Mandatory

You must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July):

  • Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
  • Age: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
  • Residency: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment.
  • Work Status: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the full duration of your summer employment.

Please note this position is bilingual (English / French). Applicants must demonstrate oral and written proficiency in both languages to be eligible for this opportunity.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • You apply your strong customer service and verbal communication skills to work effectively with ministry staff.
  • You apply your initiative and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • You apply your experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheets) and PowerPoint (presentations), as well as email and electronic file management systems, paying close attention to detail.
  • You apply your observation and analytical skills to assess data for readiness and validate data that has been entered into spreadsheets and a database.
  • You are able to accurately input data, review and update files, and generate reports.

Analytical and Organizational Skills
  • You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize, and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlines.
