The Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced Business Development Associate to grow our Maintenance, Shut-down, Outage and Turnaround portfolio. This position can be based out of our Edmonton or Calgary office. The Business Development Associate will report into the Business Development Manager and will be responsible for growing this business segment while also maintaining and expanding relationships with existing clients. This role will be required to travel within Canada up to 40% of the time.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage business development through effective interfacing, networking, cold calling, researching; grow contact list as well as maintain current client relationships and expand where possible.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, seminars, to stay on top of industry trends and expand networks, etc.
  • Maintain a list of target customers using Salesforce CRM database.
  • Manage multiple clients, ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction and retention is maintained
  • Work directly with senior leaders and the Manager of Maintenance and Turnarounds to develop sales strategies, targets and reports
  • Develop sales campaigns - online, email, social media etc.
  • Identify local initiatives, attend community events and business functions to promote the OCL brand
  • Work with vendors, marketing and different internal departments to create OCL swag and promotional materials

Education/Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor of business administration with a focus on marketing or management preferred
  • 5+ years of previous business development/sales experience in construction required
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have sales experience in maintenance, turnaround, outage, and shutdown work.
  • Previous experience using Salesforce CRM is considered an asset.
  • An engaging and effective communicator with all levels of the organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Driven to succeed; loves to exceed targets and goals.
  • Solid understanding of sales and marketing tools and strategies.
  • A skillful negotiator and an excellent listener.
  • Resourceful and self-motivated.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation.
  • Able to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • Good computer skills required. E.g. Google Drive, google calendar, sheets, slides . We are a Google based company.
  • Experience using Canva is considered an asset.
  • Adept at creating print, radio, tv and social media content. Able to interpret analytical data, changing strategy and messaging based on findings.
