Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB is enabling infrastructure projects to move forward by using our creative financing solutions to attract and leverage private sector and institutional investment in revenue-generating infrastructure projects in the public interest. Over the past 5 years, the CIB has built a portfolio of over 70 investments totalling $13 billion in commitments in key sectors including clean power, green infrastructure, transit, trade and transportation, and broadband that will foster economic growth, connect Canadians and contribute to the sustainability of infrastructure in Canada.


The Director, Investments, is an active senior member of the CIB investments team and is involved in all aspects of the sourcing and execution of investment opportunities. This dynamic role includes developing creative financing strategies for projects facing financing gaps to attract private capital and leading and executing the full lifecycle of investments, including managing junior deal team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge in finance, private equity, equity research, investment banking, or advisory in an infrastructure-related field.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in sourcing a pipeline of potential investment opportunities by establishing and maintaining a network of contacts in the public and private sectors across Canada and the infrastructure industry
  • Managing and executing transactions and advisory mandates, including opportunities at different stages of development (e.g., from early-stage projects requiring advisory to deals that are ready for CIB investment), including feasibility/business case assessment, investment structuring, due diligence, financial modelling, negotiation, legal documentation, internal approval documentation and management of both internal resources and third-party advisors including legal, market, technical, insurance and others
  • Participating in asset management activities on transactions after they close
  • Identifying new sectors, potential investment opportunities and market developments
  • Developing CIB financing solutions to address project and market needs
  • Overseeing and managing more junior deal team members
  • Ad hoc responsibilities to support the overall Investments function and organization consistent with a growing and evolving business


The ideal profile:

  • 10 plus years of infrastructure investing experience with preference to some experience in energy transition
  • University undergraduate degree in a related field (finance, engineering, accounting or science)
  • Master’s degree in business or finance, or CFA or CPA designation considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with capital structuring at the corporate or project level and leading all aspects of the transaction cycle
  • Experience with government agencies is an asset
  • Self-starter with strong project management skills, relationship building skills, leadership skills
  • Strong organizational commitment, comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented mindset
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingualism (French and English) written and verbal considered an asset

Le/la directeur·rice, Investissements, est un membre-cadre actif de l’équipe des investissements de la BIC et participe à tous les aspects de la recherche et de l’exécution d’occasions d’investissement. Cette fonction dynamique comprend l’élaboration de stratégies de financement créatives pour des projets confrontés à des déficits de financement afin d’attirer des investisseurs du secteur privé, ainsi que la direction et l’exécution de tous les aspects du cycle de vie des investissements, y compris la gestion des jeunes membres de l’équipe de transaction. La personne idéale aura une vaste expérience et des connaissances en finance, en capital-investissement, en recherche sur les actions, en banque d’investissement ou en services-conseils dans un domaine en rapport avec les infrastructures.


Vos responsabilités

  • Aider à développer un portefeuille d’occasions d’investissement potentielles en établissant et en entretenant un réseau de contacts avec les secteurs public et privé partout au Canada et le secteur des infrastructures
  • Gérer et exécuter des transactions et des mandats de services-conseils, y compris des occasions à différents stades de développement (p. ex. des projets en phase de démarrage nécessitant des services-conseils jusqu’à des transactions prêtes pour un investissement de la BIC) incluant l’évaluation de la faisabilité/de l’analyse de rentabilité, la structuration de l’investissement, la revue diligente, la modélisation financière, la négociation, la documentation juridique, la documentation d’approbation interne et la gestion des ressources internes et des conseillers tiers, y compris les conseillers juridiques, commerciaux, techniques, d’assurance et autres
  • Participer à des activités de gestion d’actifs dans le cadre de transactions après leur clôture
  • Identifier de nouveaux secteurs, des occasions d’investissements potentiels et des développements sur le marché
  • Élaborer des solutions de financement de la BIC pour répondre aux besoins des projets et du marché
  • Superviser et diriger les jeunes membres de l’équipe de transaction
  • Assumer des responsabilités ponctuelles pour soutenir l’ensemble de la fonction des investissements et de l’organisation dans un contexte d’une société en pleine croissance et en pleine évolution


Le profil idéal

  • Plus de 10 ans d’expérience en matière d’investissement dans les infrastructures, avec une préférence pour une expérience dans le domaine de la transition énergétique
  • Diplôme universitaire de premier cycle dans un domaine connexe (finance, ingénierie, comptabilité ou sciences)
  • Maîtrise en affaires ou en finances, ou titre de CFA ou de CPA considéré comme un atout
  • Expérience reconnue de la structuration des capitaux au niveau de l’entreprise ou du projet et de la direction de tous les aspects du cycle des transactions
  • Expérience au sein d’organismes gouvernementaux est un atout
  • Autodidacte avec de solides compétences en gestion de projet, en établissement de relations et en leadership
  • Solide engagement organisationnel, aisance à travailler dans la complexité et l’ambiguïté, esprit d’entreprise et orienté vers les solutions
  • Très bon esprit d’équipe
  • Solides aptitudes pour la communication (tant à l’oral et qu’à l’écrit)
