Salary Grade: N11 From: $137,775.00

Job Summary:

Direct and support the overall planning, development, delivery and evaluation of programs, products and services of the COO and the Operations Cluster by coordinating key activities within the strategic management process to aid in achieving the Enterprise and Operations strategy. Facilitate the COO’s engagement with the Operations leadership team, business partners, Board of Directors, the President & CEO and external stakeholders. Develop and execute effective plan(s) on behalf of and in collaboration with the Operations leadership team(s) to meet organizational and cross-cluster priorities and deliverables (e.g., multi-year business planning, business continuity planning, etc.).

Provide expert advice, consultation and strategic direction on a broad range of initiatives to the COO related to the Operations Cluster and organization.

Develop and maintain communication linkages and relationships internally and externally as required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and control the day-to-day operation and administration of the branch through a team(s) responsible for the delivery of programs, products and services. This includes:
  • Leading and developing employee team(s) within legislative and policy requirements; ensuring employees are provided appropriate performance objectives and development programs
  • Providing guidance and ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports
  • Managing financial and physical resources including developing and forecasting annual operating and capital budgets; monitoring and reporting on variances based on projections; and evaluating overall program expenditures.
  • Plan and develop short and long term branch strategic business plans to support WSIB and divisional strategic goals and objectives and respond to changing business initiatives or organizational strategies. As a member of the leadership team, collaborate with peers, Vice Presidents and COO to identify, recommend and develop divisional strategy, goals and objectives in support of enterprise strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Monitor the established Enterprise and Operations strategy to highlight risks, issues and opportunities in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Create applicable governance processes to manage the Enterprise and Operations Strategy targets and measures.
  • Establish and maintain effective tracking processes to understand progress towards Cluster targets and outcomes and drive improved results (includes data governance, reporting out on financial and non-financial outcomes, etc.).
  • Active management of a portfolio of corporate and operations projects and initiatives to ensure effective prioritization, integration, and implementation.
  • Act as technical resource, providing strategic direction, advice and guidance to senior management across the organization, as applicable. Participate as a team member and management member at various management committees/meetings to discuss, identify, recommend changes that will improve services, provide input and expertise on issues of mutual concern, and exchange information.
  • Build effective relationships with internal (Operations and non-Operations leadership) and external stakeholders (vendors, committees, Ministry, etc.) to generate alignment on ongoing and changing needs and drive collaboration with stakeholder(s) to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Effective analysis of trends to understand results and drive improved results
  • Act as an advisor/ team member on internal Cluster committees including but not limited to: Team One-Operations, Operations Executive Committee, Operations Leadership Committee.
  • Act as an advisor/team member on external Committees including but not limited to: Orange IMT, Resourcing Committee, Enterprise Program Management Forum
  • Act as an advisor/team member on applicable project/divisional committees as required.
  • Lead, facilitate and support the development of strategies and tactics, communications materials, and applicable processes for the COO in relation to their engagement with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., front-line staff, leadership team, Board of Directors, etc.) to convey results, outcomes and responses to risk(s), issues(s) and drive improved engagement and understanding of the Cluster.
  • Develop effective communication materials to support the COO’s mandate in providing periodic updates to the Board of Directors and its sub-committees.
  • Develop effective communication materials for COO to convey appropriate messaging to internal and external stakeholders (corporate town halls, cluster road-shows, etc.).
  • Establish in collaboration with Operations senior leadership team, a Custer-wide engagement plan to drive improved employee experience and a culture of belonging
  • Craft and provide support to corporate communication products/ processes.
  • Develop and execute effective plans to meet organizational and cross-cluster priorities in collaboration with Operations senior leadership team. Lead the Operations Cluster in the annual business planning process (inclusive of business continuity, quarterly forecasting, resourcing, etc.).
  • Initiate and develop appropriate tools, methodologies to support the planning and monitoring of deliverables.
  • Work effectively with business areas and senior leadership to develop integrated plans and foster cross cluster collaboration.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
