The Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ENTI) Area at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, invites applications for a tenure-track Quantum position in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the rank of Assistant Professor. Priority will be given to junior Assistant Professors who have completed their Ph.D. degree within the past three years. The appointment start date is July 1, 2025 and is contingent on final budget approval.

Candidates must have completed, or be near completion of, a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for developing a research agenda in the field of entrepreneurship and an interest in exploring the application and leveraging of quantum technologies (and other emerging technologies) in alignment with the University of Calgary's Quantum City's initiative. Potential research areas involve, but are not limited to, research on entrepreneurship and innovation relating to various aspects of quantum technology (e.g., quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, quantum cryptography), startups and commercialization in the quantum industry, or the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem on the quantum frontier. The candidate will teach courses in entrepreneurship and innovation at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in service to the Area, the Haskayne School of Business, the University of Calgary, and profession.

Faculty in the ENTI Area at the Haskayne School of Business are engaged in inter-disciplinary research related to a wide spectrum of topics within the broad entrepreneurship and innovation domain. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, innovative, collaborative, growth-oriented team dedicated to developing and disseminating impactful, thought-provoking scholarship with focus on entrepreneurship in emerging technologies, especially quantum technologies, and building cutting-edge inter-disciplinary entrepreneurship programming.

Candidates Must Have

  • Evidence of past and/or potential excellence in scholarship in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, as demonstrated by high-quality research published and/or invited for revision in highest-quality academic journals,
  • A strong research program in entrepreneurship and innovation, with clear trajectory for future publications in highest-quality academic outlets,
  • Evidence of strong theoretical and methodological skills and a mastery of the relevant literature in entrepreneurship and innovation,
  • An interest in developing a research agenda relating to the application and leveraging of quantum technologies in entrepreneurship,
  • Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness in entrepreneurship and innovation, as demonstrated by student evaluations,
  • A willingness to engage in service to the school, university, and profession.

The Haskayne School of Business hosts the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, while the University of Calgary is home to the dynamic Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking. These institutions serve as crucibles for fostering entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, further bolstering Calgary's status as a hub for groundbreaking quantum endeavors. Overall, Canada's NQS, coupled with Calgary's proliferating Quantum City initiative and vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, heralds a new era of innovation and opportunity, positioning Canada - and Calgary in particular - at the forefront of the global quantum revolution.
