Job Description

The role will be based at the Moderna Manufacturing Facility in Laval, Quebec, and reporting to the Head of EHS - International Operations. This temporary position will provide daily Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) support to manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse and facility operations in a new state-of-the-art advanced mRNA drug substance manufacturing facility.
The candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily Site EHS activities under Corporate EHS direction and continue to develop and implement the overall site EHS strategy to ensure compliance with all local laws, regulations, permits and company requirements.
The candidate is to ensure continuity of daily operations, focusing on compliance, risk management, and operational stability. Preference is candidate is fluent in French and English.

Work and partner with the Site team, serving as the liaison between Site Leadership, Corporate EHS, and internal/external stakeholders on compliance matters.
Manage the legal compliance action tracker, ensuring timely task completion, and coordinate with Corporate EHS, local authorities, and external EHS authorities.
Identify and manage EHS risks for site operations, ensuring compliance with environmental permits and health and safety regulations as well as internal EHS requirements.
Under guidance from Corporate EHS, conduct operational hazard risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to reduce risk.
Address compliance gaps and finalize outstanding EHS documents.
Create new EHS programs and submit site-specific EHS programs for Corporate EHS review, ensuring documents are accessible and properly loaded into systems (e.g., Veeva).
Integrate new and updated EHS Site programs into daily operations.
Oversee waste management, including hazardous waste shipments in coordination with waste vendors (e.g., Veolia).
Assist Site and Corporate EHS with specific EHS projects for the site.
Ensure effective oversight of critical EHS programs, including Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and manage actions from previous project phase.
Report events in incident management software (SPHERA) and lead incident investigations to find root cause and implement effective CAPAs.
Coordinate regulatory submissions and notification with Corporate EHS and Site Leadership prior to submittal.
Oversee the contractor vetting process, ensuring safety compliance for site contractors.
Conduct internal walkthroughs for the site.
Set up a weekly collaboration meeting with Corporate EHS to provide updates on responsibilities listed above or any other issues or concerns.
Attend regular Leadership or operations tier meetings to bring up and/or address any EHS concerns or initiatives.
Take on additional responsibilities as they may arise with guidance from Corporate EHS.
