As Parex continues to grow, the size and complexity of our database, and the sophistication of the geoscience technologies we use daily, have increased significantly. Our Calgary-based group provides technical support to multiple departments locally (e.g. Engineering) and integrates effectively with our geoscience technology cohort team in the Bogotá office. The Geoscience Technologist covers both well and seismic data handling, with the focus being on wells. This role is responsible for the delivery of geoscience technical support and the management of data supporting all geoscience operations and interpretation. The position requires a strong aptitude for innovation and analytical problem solving, with the objective of continuously improving processes, streamlining workflows, and enhancing overall efficiency.What you will do: Geological & Geophysical (G&G) Technical Support: Perform a full range of technical functions in support of Geologists and Geophysicists, including but not limited to, seismic and well data loading, georectification, data quality control and manipulation, troubleshooting, and the development of best practices and documentation.Data Management: Assist with the cleanup, organization, and ongoing maintenance of corporate geological and geophysical databases.Applications Support: Develop and maintain in-depth geoscience application expertise, serving as a super user and technical resource for the organization. The main applications are Petrel and Studio.Collaboration: Work closely with team members in the Calgary and Bogotá offices to ensure efficient technical support and effective data management of corporate databases.What you must have:Technology diploma in Geosciences or Engineering (10+ years of directly applicable experience will be considered in lieu of a diploma).Minimum of 10 years of related experience.Advanced working knowledge of Petrel and Studio applications, including project setup, data integration, interpretation support, and troubleshooting, is required.Demonstrated experience extracting, validating, manipulating, and loading well data (e.g. headers, surveys, logs, markers, completions) into corporate databases and interpretation projects is required.Experience supporting international upstream oil and gas operations is considered an asset.Proficiency in Spanish, both written and verbal (sufficient for technical communication) is considered an asset.Experience with Python scripting for data manipulation, automation, quality control, and workflow optimization is considered an asset.Computer Literacy - Strong aptitude for working within enterprise database systems and the ability to rapidly learn and adopt new technical applications. Proven capability using a range of advanced geoscience software platforms, including Petrel, Studio, Kingdom, GeoGraphix/GVerse, and Global Mapper.Data Management - Experience managing G&G datasets, including data validation, organization, and lifecycle maintenance.
