We are seeking a seasoned Underground Engineering Manager to spearhead our efforts, drive technical excellence, and foster a culture of growth and collaboration.

Job Overview

We are offering a highly competitive salary of $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, to lead our team of engineers in Toronto. As an Underground Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our team through feedback, coaching, and career development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a high-performing team of engineers through regular feedback, coaching, and career development.
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations and ensuring staff performance targets are met.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to develop and communicate team strategies.
  • Fostering an inclusive and diverse team environment, aligning with our organization's values.
  • Overseeing staffing and workforce planning in alignment with skills and capabilities.
  • Acting as a project manager or design manager for underground infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
  • Providing technical expertise in project delivery, including overseeing structural analysis, engineering drawings, and tender documents.
  • Ensuring successful execution of projects for public, private, or contractor clients.
  • Participating in strategy meetings and supporting the achievement of organizational priorities.
  • Engaging in business development activities, identifying and pursuing new project opportunities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer status in Canada.
  • At least 7 years of experience in engineering, with at least 4 years in a people management role.
  • Proven experience in project management and business development.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to lead teams through change and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
