Underground Engineering Manager: Strategic Infrastructure Leader

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Underground Engineering Manager to lead our team in Toronto. As a key member of our leadership team, you will guide a talented group of engineers, spearheading innovative projects while driving technical excellence and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, guide, and support a team of engineers through feedback, coaching, and career development.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and ensure staff performance targets are met.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and communicate team strategies.
- Foster an inclusive and diverse team environment, aligning with the organization's values.
- Oversee staffing and workforce planning in alignment with skills and capabilities.
- Act as a project manager or design manager for underground infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
- Provide technical expertise in project delivery, including overseeing structural analysis, engineering drawings, and tender documents.
- Ensure successful execution of projects for public, private, or contractor clients.
- Participate in strategy meetings and support the achievement of organizational priorities.
- Engage in business development activities, identifying and pursuing new project opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients and represent the company in external technical forums.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer status in Canada.
- 7+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 4 years in a people management role.
- Proven experience in project management and business development.
- Strong mentoring, coaching, and team-building abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to lead teams through change and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
