At Modular Mailing Systems, Inc., we are committed to transforming the world by making AI accessible to all. As a Mojo Standard Library Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in advancing this vision. The Mojo language provides a streamlined way to develop libraries and interact with the Python ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Mojo standard libraries using deep knowledge of Python and its standard library.
- Ensure these libraries are optimized for performance and usability for a community of developers fully utilizing AI technologies.
- Collaborate with internal Modular teams to deliver APIs that balance ergonomics, expressibility, and performance.
- Debug and fix issues found in the standard library by internal and open source users.
- Optimize existing library functions for performance and memory usage.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality standards.
- Collaborate with other teams to understand their needs and how the standard library can support them.
- Partner with the open source community to ensure contributions meet our high quality standards while promoting an inclusive and constructive community atmosphere.
- Research new technologies and methodologies to improve the quality of the Mojo standard library.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in idiomatic usage of Python and its standard library.
- Deep interest in both library design and performance.
- Knowledge/prior experience of the CPython internals.
- Experience with open source projects by either managing community contributions or contributing to open source projects.
- Experience with Python testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with lower-level systems programming languages like C++/Rust/Swift.
- Familiarity with memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with performance profiling tools for Python.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in modern C++/Rust/Swift with a strong understanding of system-level programming, optimizing performance, and memory management.
- Love to track modern API designs in evolving languages, such as modern C++/Rust/Swift core libraries and features.
Compensation:
The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $135,000.00 USD to $242,000.00 USD. The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in Canada, regardless of the province, is $127,000.00 CAD to $228,000.00 CAD. The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
