About This Opportunity

Roseway Hospital, a part of Nova Scotia Health Authority, is seeking a family medicine physician to join our in-patient care team. As a hospitalist, you will be responsible for managing a panel of patients and providing care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare. You will work closely with other healthcare facilities in the region, including Yarmouth, Kentville, Liverpool, Bridgewater, and Halifax.

Remuneration includes a competitive daily rate, plus evening and weekend/holiday call stipends. Our hospital offers a friendly and collegial work environment, with a range of primary and secondary services, including emergency medicine, internal medicine, and laboratory services.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a panel of hospitalist patients
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
Expected Hours

As a hospitalist, you will be on call for your patients 24/7, with minimal overnight calls and rare evening hospital visits. The position requires coverage for 1 or 2 weeks per 4-week cycle, with potential for additional weeks of hospitalist work or other opportunities in the orphan patient clinic, ER shifts, or locuming in local family doctor offices.

Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association, or proof of alternative coverage
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
