About the Role

As a Geriatric Medicine Specialist at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing consultation and leadership in the care of frail elderly patients on our inpatient Geriatric Assessment and Rehab Unit, inpatient service, and outpatient clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers across Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and other specialties to provide high-quality care to patients.
  • Support community hospitals in the region and contribute to the development of services within the zone.
  • Participate in our stroke program for acute stroke care and stroke rehabilitation.
  • Be part of Nova Scotia Health's Division of Geriatric Medicine and engage in research opportunities with Dalhousie University's Division of Geriatric Medicine.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year of Geriatric Medicine training as part of Internal Medicine training or Care of Elderly (COE) Certification in addition to Family Medicine CCFP.
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $300,000 - $450,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise through teaching and research opportunities with Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine.

Location and Hours

This full-time position is located at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The expected hours are 37.5 hours per week, with an on-call requirement of 1:7.
