Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a seasoned Sales Manager to drive business growth and develop strong customer relationships in the Alberta, Canada region. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for fostering new business opportunities, driving sales, and cementing Canadian Solar's position as a market leader in the region.
Key Responsibilities- Generate, identify, qualify, and contact new business leads for the PV module sales group
- Establish new relationships with solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and/or solar installers, project developers, and large PV distributors to create new revenue channels and promote Canadian Solar's reputation as a leading manufacturer
- Meet with existing and new EPC, distribution, and installation partners to develop close, binding relationships, understand their needs, and position Canadian Solar's solutions to solve their growing and changing needs
- Travel approximately 50% throughout the year within your designated sales territory to build strong relationships and have deep-dive technical conversations with our target customer base
- Use data to gauge success and track progress towards meeting and exceeding individual and team KPIs (key performance indicators) related to new business growth, sales volume, market share, and more within your designated territories
- Manage the entire sales cycle (lead generation, technical education, and deal closing) of our Module PV Products in the Residential sector
- Partner closely with Executives in Sales, Operations, Planning, and more to establish revenue forecasts, communicate progress towards established goals, and conduct prospect reviews
- Collect competitive market and territory data from the field, sharing best practices and new business development opportunities with your collective team
- Participate in trade shows and conferences to represent the company, entertain clients and prospects, and close new sales opportunities
- Establish 'product bankability' to support clients with project financing and lender acceptance
- At least 3 years of B2B experience selling PV modules to solar installers and developers for commercial and utility projects
- Or 5 years of B2B sales experience selling in balance of systems components (inverters, racking, tracking) of the solar system to installers or developers in commercial solar projects
- Willingness and excitement to travel approximately 50% throughout the year within your designated sales territory, at your discretion. Frequency determined by strategy, attainment of targets, business needs, and the individual needs of customers in each area
- Strong presentation and communication skills - in person, over video/phone, and email
- Excellent interpersonal skills: you're a team player, open to trying new things, receptive to coaching and feedback, and can thrive while managing yourself in a remote capacity
- High proficiency of MS Office applications, Outlook, and CRM tools such as Salesforce
- Independent sales approach to win deals
- Problem solver who can maneuver situations without resources
- Solar project experience is a plus, working on constructing projects or designing projects
- Experience negotiating $MM supply contracts preferred
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required
- Bachelor's or associate degree in business management, administration, engineering, supply chain, or related field is a plus, but not required
- Preferred to be within 1 hour of a major airport and within the territory
