Job Title: Community Support Worker

Join our team as a Community Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with diverse abilities.

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to support adults with diverse abilities to reach their potential and enhance their quality of life. As a Community Support Worker, you will build relationships and social skills, encourage meaningful and rewarding community connections, and engage clients in recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support adults with diverse abilities to reach their potential and enhance their quality of life
  • Build relationships and social skills with clients
  • Encourage meaningful and rewarding community connections
  • Engage clients in recreational activities, including sports, crafts, and community participation
  • Transport clients in agency vans to activities
  • Encourage individuals to participate in food preparation, following Safe Food Handling standards
  • Support clients with mobility challenges, including assisting with walkers, pushing/pulling wheelchairs, etc.
  • Monitor personal care and health needs and perform personal care as needed
  • Collaborate with participants, their caregivers, and other professionals to provide a holistic support system
  • Recognize risks, take preventative measures, and respond to emergencies using de-escalation and therapeutic intervention skills
  • Administer medication as needed, strictly adhering to agency medication policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Community or School Support Worker Certificate, a Diploma is an asset
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Interact effectively and support individuals with physical and cognitive diverse abilities
  • Identify and organize creative recreational and community inclusion activities for participants
  • Support the enhancement of life skills
  • Provide personal care as required
  • Handle crisis situations effectively using appropriate intervention techniques
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license (or equivalent) and safe driving record
