Thrive Group Canada is seeking a skilled Recreation Programmer to join our team at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke. This temporary part-time position offers a competitive wage, paid orientation, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver resident-focused therapeutic recreation programs and interventions throughout the home on assigned terraces.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Collaborate with the recreation team to plan special events and promote resident engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records, including MDS-RAI documentation, program evaluations, and participant tracking.

Requirements:

  • College diploma or university degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Experience working in long-term care and knowledge of dementia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate groups and lead activities.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR and a background in Montessori-based programming and multi-sensory environments for persons with dementia.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet physical demands of the role.
