Are you a post-secondary graduate eager to apply your knowledge and skills in environmental law enforcement?

The Yukon public service offers an exciting opportunity for recent graduates with a background in conservation enforcement, natural resource protection, or renewable resources management.

This role involves interpreting, applying, and enforcing legislation and regulations related to parks, fish and wildlife, wilderness tourism, and environmental protection.

You will assist with both field and office work, including granting licenses and permits, responding to public complaints, conducting school and field talks, and researching enforcement issues.

About the Job:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent oral and written communication skills to join our team as a Graduate Conservation Officer.

This is a front-line field position requiring strong interpersonal skills, the ability to function in conflict situations, and work independently under the direction of a mentor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Conservation Enforcement, Natural Resource Protection, or Renewable Resources Management from a recognized institution
  • Valid Class 5 Yukon driver's license
  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  • Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  • Security Clearance
  • Comprehensive medical examination, including psychological assessment

Working Conditions:

  • Field work in various weather conditions
  • Shift work, including weekends
  • Travel by small aircraft, snowmobiles, ATVs, and boats

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Residency in Yukon or First Nations ancestry
  • Recent graduation (within the past two years) with a diploma or degree from a recognized institution
  • Limited or no work experience in the field of study
