About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Cost Management Strategist to join our team in Vancouver, Canada. As a key member of our Development Advisory Team, you will play a crucial role in guiding a team of consultants to deliver cost consulting services efficiently and drive projects to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct quantity surveying and cost planning activities on construction projects in British Columbia and occasionally assist with projects in other Canadian and US regions.
  2. Review and interpret design documents to measure and quantify building elements, apply appropriate pricing, prepare Class D to Class A estimates (conceptual to detailed estimate stages), tender reviews, and change order reviews within deadlines.
  3. Analyze project estimates using benchmarking data, including unit rates and costs for assets, facilities, and structures.
  4. Evaluate and apply the appropriate level of detail to estimates based on provided information.
  5. Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of reports provided by others to ensure billable quality before client delivery.
  6. Oversee collection, analysis, and interpretation of cost and schedule data.
  7. Lead, coach, and mentor team members, managing training and development needs for workforce competency. Ensure team understanding and adherence to Altus policies.
  8. Manage client communications for projects as principal contact, communicating effectively and resolving issues promptly.
  9. Develop new customer acquisition and long-term client relationships to increase income through repeat business and referrals.
  10. Prepare fee proposals for client requests and RFPs, utilizing current market knowledge for Cost Planning services.
Requirements
  1. Possess a Post Secondary Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or similar subjects.
  2. Hold a CIQS Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Construction Estimator Certified (CEC), or RICS Member (MRICS) certification.
  3. Demonstrate 7+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Construction, or Project Management, with 5+ years of leadership experience in Construction Consulting.
  4. Have expertise in local / provincial construction, including commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, and public sector projects, as well as owners, contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, and measurement methods.
  5. Be proficient in CIQS Elemental Estimating and MasterFormat (Divisional) formats estimate preparation.
  6. Proficiently use MS Office, CostX, and other computer-based measurement and estimating software.
  7. Skilled in working independently and collaboratively on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  8. Strong communication abilities, including report writing and presentation.
  9. Self-motivated with strong integrity, honesty, and work ethics.
  10. Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical skills, and business acumen, focusing on business development.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
