About the Role

The Abbotsford School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Teacher to join our team at Ten-Broeck, a trauma-informed school that prioritizes connection and relationship with each child and family.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement an environment and programming conducive to engaging children and their families
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Develop and implement social emotional learning programs and strategies
  • Provide case management support to students and families
  • Assess and support students with diverse needs, including those with special education requirements
Requirements
  • Major or minor in Inclusive Education (Special Education)
  • Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Elementary level
  • Case management experience required
  • Training and experience with Level B Assessments (e.g. KBIT2/KTEA III)
  • Non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment.
  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
  • Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning.
  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives.
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances.
