About the Role

Hiya Energy is seeking a highly skilled Systems Commissioning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful commissioning of our projects.

Job Summary

The Systems Commissioning Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and executing commissioning activities on-site, working closely with project stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Compile Commissioning Packs: Develop comprehensive commissioning packs for upcoming projects, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
  2. Attend Project Meetings: Attend project kick-off and co-ordination meetings to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  3. Report Defects and Issues: Identify and report equipment defects or calibration issues to the commissioning manager in a timely manner.
  4. Manage Design Log Process: Complete project RFI/TQ's during commissioning and manage the design log process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  5. Commission Primary and Secondary Equipment: Oversee the commissioning of primary and secondary equipment on projects, ensuring all necessary testing and validation are completed.
  6. Configure Automation Systems: Configure projection relays, RTU, PLC, Power quality meters, and other substation automation systems as required.
  7. Submission of Redline Drawings: Complete and submit redline drawings during commissioning to ensure accurate documentation.
  8. FAT Testing: Attend FAT tests for equipment when requested, ensuring all necessary testing is completed.
  9. Site Modifications and Validation: Ensure all required site modifications are completed and validate as-built drawings to ensure accuracy.
  10. Completion of Commissioning Documentation: Complete commissioning and test documentation throughout the project lifespan, ensuring all necessary records are maintained.
  11. Declaration of Fitness: Provide declaration of fitness when commissioning is complete, confirming that all necessary testing has been conducted.
  12. Pre and Post-Energisation Testing: Complete pre and post-energisation testing to ensure the safe and efficient operation of commissioned equipment.
  13. Junior Engineer Support: Assist junior commissioning engineers with their development, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering Degree: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is essential for this role.
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant industry setting, with a strong understanding of commissioning principles and practices.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines is critical for success in this role.
  • IT Literacy: Strong IT literacy, including proficiency in software applications and tools used in commissioning and project management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders at all levels.
  • Operational Experience with Omicron Test Equipment: Operational experience with Omicron test equipment is highly desirable for this role.
