About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our FIS Profile Tool, working closely with business partners, architects, and other stakeholders to design and implement new projects and features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain FIS Profile Tool code, ensuring high-quality and efficient solutions.
  • Collaborate with business partners, architects, and other stakeholders to design and implement new projects and features.
  • Troubleshoot issues and identify root causes, implementing fixes and improvements.
  • Lead a team of developers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Work with project managers, scrum masters, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Align technology solutions with business strategies, demonstrating a deep understanding of business functions and processes.
  • Support complex business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of FIS Profile Tool, including scripting language and database management.
  • Experience with FIS Data Base – MUMPS and UNIX/LINUX (AIX platform) is required.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database management is essential.
  • Experience with database connectivity (JDBC, JTDC) and Java 8/Spring is required.
  • 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer-facing platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Financial banking experience, preferably in the mortgage area, is required.
  • Strong trouble-shooting skills and experience with Agile principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, and ACCP is required.
