About the Role
The Driver Examiner is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. As a Driver Examiner, you will be responsible for conducting thorough examinations of applicants for driver's licenses, ensuring that they meet the necessary standards for safe driving. This includes administering written and oral exams, vision screening, and road tests for various classes of driver's licenses and endorsements.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and conduct written and oral examinations, vision screening, and road tests for Class 1 through 7 driver's licenses and endorsements.
- Evaluate test results and counsel applicants on areas for improvement.
- Conduct visual inspections of vehicles used for testing to identify potential safety issues.
- Observe applicants for signs and symptoms that may indicate a medical examination is required before a license is issued.
- Create routes for road testing in various locations.
- Respond to customer concerns regarding examinations and interviews.
- Provide input into ministerial inquiries.
Requirements
- Two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Business, or defined equivalency.
- Certified Driver Examiner Designation from AAMVA (American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators).
- Possession of a valid Class 4 driver's license.
- Satisfactory driving record from Canada or the United States of America.
- Five years of Class 5 driving experience in Canada or the United States of America with at least two years of post-Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) program driving experience.
