About the Role

As a key member of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce team, the Director of Business Banking will play a critical role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and guidance to a team of Senior Managers and Team Leaders to achieve business objectives and drive client satisfaction.
  • Business Development: Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the Business Banking business, improve client experiences, and build relationships with clients and prospective clients.
  • Partnership and Relationship Building: Foster strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including Risk Management and Compliance, CIBC Credit Group, and Retail Operations, to resolve credit and risk issues and deliver business solutions.
  • Strategic Thinker: Lead the execution of strategies and tactics to grow the Business Banking business, improve client experiences, and build relationships with clients and prospective clients.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying them fairly and consistently.
Requirements
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business and personal credit principles, cash and treasury management knowledge, and experience in understanding and meeting the financial needs of medium-size businesses.
  • Leadership and People Management: Strong leadership and people management skills to lead a team within an assigned area to achieve strategic, business, and financial plans.
  • Business Development Expertise: Experience in establishing, growing, and sustaining long-term relationships with Business Banking clients.
  • Credit Management: Experience and expertise in credit management, knowledge of Business Banking credit strategy and adjudication methodologies, and detailed knowledge of business lending practices and credit analysis.
  • Business Experience: Strong business experience, including a business degree, and demonstrated experience in Business or Commercial Banking in Canada.
