Unit Clerk, Radiation Oncology Specialist

As a Unit Clerk in Radiation Oncology, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional care and support throughout their treatment journey. Your keen observation skills, compassionate communication, and organizational talent will make you a valuable member of our team.
Key Responsibilities:- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions and scheduling of tests and services.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, preparing and communicating related instructions to patients and families.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments, facilitating efficient patient flow and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone calls, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, and maintain physical ability to carry out duties.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm, organize work, operate related equipment, and utilize various computer software applications.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.
