About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to join our Building and Operations team at Pomerleau Construction. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading large-scale building and infrastructure projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow and maintain strong relationships with team members, trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
- Support project management teams to develop and drive the construction schedule, ensuring completion dates and milestones are met or exceeded.
- Apply problem-solving skills to recommend innovative methods that increase effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring project excellence and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with our Quality Program.
- Utilize experience in trade partner selection and coordination of their activities.
- Apply financial management experience to plan, manage, and respect project budgets, costs, and associated purchasing.
- Be a mentor and role model to the project team, providing coaching and guidance to help them advance in their careers.
- Act as the subject matter expert in risk management, ensuring any associated project risk is minimized.
- Compile and complete company-wide project reports for executive teams and client groups.
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection on the project.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years of experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- A University degree/diploma in Engineering or related field.
- A strong business acumen and knowledge of project management methodologies, financial management, Canadian building codes, and associated legislations.
- Experience in the construction industry with a strong knowledge of project methodologies, financial management, and building codes and associated legislations.
- A proven track record of team leadership and a knack for coaching and mentoring others.
- A strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project, and technical issues.
- Previous experience with scheduling software.
Additional Assets
- Experience working on a variety of large-scale government projects.
- Fluency in both official languages, written and oral (English and French).
