Job Summary:

The Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, focusing on safety, budget, and schedule. This individual will assist in defining project requirements and scope, acquiring project resources, and supporting team members. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude, with the ability to apply it in both office and field settings to support site operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Support team leads in preparing schedules, job hand-offs, subcontractor management, site meetings, material management, and other related tasks.
  2. Schedule, execute, and monitor anchor and pile testing operations in accordance with Post Tensioning Institute (PTI) specifications.
  3. Track quantities, job costing, progress billing, issue RFI, coordinate and track extra works.
  4. Collaborate with the project manager and superintendent to coordinate site activities and assist with tasks.
  5. Order, track, and allocate job-specific materials, and manage/coordinate equipment rentals.
  6. Develop job-specific work packs to aid in project team execution of work.
  7. Assist with day-to-day tasks in both the office and field.
  8. Support daily site-level activities as required.
  9. Assist with change management as projects progress.
  10. Actively participate in required safety deliverables and promote a positive safety culture.
  11. Support the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  12. Strong understanding of reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications.
  13. Any other duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • University degree in Civil/Mining Engineering or other relevant discipline, with appropriate work experience.
  • Experience in Heavy Civil Construction, drilling, geotechnical, etc., would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • AutoCAD experience would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with PowerApps for initiating material and equipment movement between jobs.
  • Ability to work as part of a construction team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional attitude, punctual, assertive, and personable.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
  • Ability to respond in pressure situations with a calm demeanor and high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Maritimes to support various projects.
  • Utilizes strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
Working Conditions:

The Project Engineer will be required to perform a balance of office and field work. Field work and company site visits will require the use of minimum PPE (Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, reflective vest, etc.). Other PPE might also be necessary and will be driven by the environment of the work sites (specialized PPE, Gas monitors, Fall Arrest and Breathing Apparatus). Other travel on behalf of the company may be necessary to represent the Company or Project.
