We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Operations Manager to lead our team of tradespeople by coordinating and overseeing completion of trade activities within the Shipyard. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to safety and quality.

The Mechanical Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulations and company standards. They will work closely with management to establish daily and weekly goals and hold employees accountable for performance.

In this full-time, permanent position, you will have the opportunity to work on multiple operations and long-term projects, enjoying job stability as we look ahead to build ships for decades to come. A very competitive salary, ranging from $115,000 to $127,000, is offered, along with a best-in-class health and wellness benefits package, including free on-site gym and parking.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum 5 years of related trades work experience outside of trades apprenticeship or educational program.
  • A minimum of an additional 3 years of previous supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably unionized.
  • Dedication to safety and quality, with experience in the application of behavioural based safety.
  • Proficient knowledge of trade responsibilities specific to heavy manufacturing/shipbuilding (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical, rigging,).
  • Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Time management and organization skills with a proven dedication to follow-up and follow-through.

The estimated salary for this position is $122,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors, including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
