The Role

This is a full-time, 100% onsite position at our downtown office, reporting to the Subcontract Manager. As a Subcontract Administrator, you will be responsible for providing oversight of several subcontracts, ensuring timely and accurate contractual correspondence, and maintaining excellent relationships with subcontractors and public stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Administer assigned subcontracts, from contract negotiations to progress reviews, and provide management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
  • Coordinate with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract administration, and other major matters.
  • Implement Change and claim Management procedures, negotiate Change Orders and change issues with Subcontractors, and ensure timely and accurate contractual correspondence.
  • Identify and track deliverables, including bonds, reports, and insurance certificates, and implement record-keeping procedures to validate potential Changes.
  • Maintain change management/issue logs and provide summary reports, and maintain excellent relationships with subcontractors and public stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or Finance required (Engineering degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in contract administration or a related field, such as quantity surveying, accounting, finance, or legal, or education in an insurance-related field working towards full license and CIP designation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal requirements involved in specific contracts, experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools, and familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills are essential, and a commitment to ethical business conduct and trusted with sensitive information is required.
  • Strong awareness of construction and contract law, with experience with Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) forms of contract an asset.
  • Excellent computer and software skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
