Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse to join the Central Intake team at the Pacific Spirit Community Health Centre in Vancouver.

As an Intake Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to conduct centralized intake functions for the designated site/program services. This includes performing initial screening, triage, and referrals based on client needs, urgency of request, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client assessments and interventions to determine the appropriate treatment and provide education and consultation to clients and families.
  • Provide information to health providers and the general public, establish and enhance relationships/communication within the designated program services and other community resources.
  • Maintain and provide accurate intake/referral data and statistics, participate in team meetings and continuing education, and engage in ongoing team planning and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three (3) years recent related experience in the designated clinical program area or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family-centered care model.
  • Broad knowledge of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide client-focused, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and culturally safe care.
  • Knowledge of provincial acts, regulations, and program policies and guidelines related to home and community care.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for client/family support and related health services.
