Job Title: Regulatory Specialist

WEST Inc is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing projects related to environmental consulting, natural resource study designs, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement scientific consulting solutions for clients.
  • Write reports, applying scientific expertise to present and interpret the results of field and desktop studies in their scientific and regulatory context.
  • Communicate with clients regarding their needs.
  • Conduct day-to-day administration of projects.
  • Work with field staff in the execution of field studies and field coordination.
  • Prepare proposals for project work.
  • Provide quality assurance of data.
  • Assist with hearing preparation and act as an expert witness.
  • Market WEST's capabilities.
  • Foster current business relationships and promote new business development efforts.
  • Help maintain WEST's position as thought leaders in the environmental consulting market.
Requirements:
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada (i.e., Canadian citizen, Canadian permanent resident, or have an existing VISA with no work restrictions).
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, planning, or natural resource science, with a master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years in environmental consulting and project management or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and consulting work, professional scientific experience, and a track record of maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, clients, stakeholders, or sub-consultants.
  • Understanding of the renewable energy market, preferably in Alberta.
  • Natural science technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on biological field studies.
  • Strong, competent writing skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail and accurately report the scientific methods and results of field studies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good time management, project management and organizational skills with the ability to work well under time constraints and meet deliverable targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, beneficial, but not mandatory.
